Bath Centre for Pain Services

About Us

Bath Centre for Pain Services is a centre of excellence for the provision of intensive rehabilitation services for adults, young adults and adolescents with chronic pain.

Our pain management programmes aim to enhance daily functioning, allowing individuals to return to activities that are important to them, whether their pain is reduced or not. The unit has both a national and an international reputation for its clinical services, research and development of effective chronic pain treatments.

The unit started providing intensive adult services in 1994. In 1999 it launched the first adolescent pain management programme in Europe. More recently, in 2006, we launched a young adult programme to directly address the need of those aged between 18-30 with chronic pain. The unit also runs the only residential nurse supported, hospital based programme for adults with chronic pain in the UK.

Our services are available to patients with all types of chronic pain. Our assessment criteria are only that an individual’s pain should be persistent, disabling and not adequately helped by other treatments. The unit is a national service, and accepts referrals from throughout the UK.
